About Rika Singh:

Thank you for visiting and taking an interest in my photography. I live and work in Durban, South Africa as a web and graphics designer and have always wanted to take up photography. In 2009 I enrolled in courses and began putting my lecturers teachings into practise. It has been an amazing journey and one of great excitement for me. Like design, you never stop learning when you are behind that camera. I truly love what I do and I hope it reflects in the pictures you'll see on my website and blog. Nadika & Darren | Married | Part 3

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

If you missed it, you can still catch Part 1 & Part 2 of Nadika and Darren’s wedding.

This was the final day of my coverage on Nadika and Darren’s wedding. I think of all the days, Nadika looked most stunning on Saturday in her bridal sari. Darren looked just as dashing and together they were picture perfect. As mentioned before I’ve known Nadika for many years and its the photographers duty to follow the couple throughout their big day so it was special and meaningful that I got to photograph their wedding.

Nadika & Darren, thank you for the opportunity to experience and capture your special day. :) I love you guys to bits and hope that you have a wonderful and happy married life together. When are the babies coming? I want to play with them. LOL. ;)

This next picture is possibly my favorite picture of all. There is a story behind why I love it so much. If you know Nadika, she doesn’t burst into laughter like most people (including me!) do. She shows her amusement in a very different way. I guess the best way to describe it is she laughs quietly. Sometimes its a tiny smile. Sometimes, its hardly any reaction at all. Rarely do you catch her busting a laugh. :) On this day, the make up and hair artist Payal, was telling us a very funny story. I can’t even remember what it was now. I just remember it was really funny. I also remember laughing behind my camera and focusing on Nadika through the viewfinder. And when I got home and started the editing process, I found this gem:

Then it was off to the groom to catch him getting ready.

At one point during the creative shoot Nadika turned to me and said, “What should I do? Put my hands on my hips?” LOL! The result was the shot below. Then I turned my camera to Darren and he just knew what to do. She asked him, “Have you been practising?” Did I mention I had fun shooting this wedding?

Nadika & Darren | Married | Part 2

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

If you missed it, you can catch Part 1 of Nadika and Darren’s wedding here. Part 2 covers Nadika’s mehndi & hurdee evenings. :)

In Part 3 which I will be posting soon, I will share vendor details for this wedding such as the make up artist, decor and catering. So if you are a future bride you can check them out as they are awesome vendors I recommend. :) Let’s start with the mehndi done by talented artist, Payal Maharaj.

I love catching candid moments. Darren stopped by that evening and in this picture I caught them discussing something about their new flat. I love their expressions. Its so cute and don’t we all know exactly how they feel and what they are thinking here?

Next is the Hurdee evening. I was in love with the colour of Nadika’s sari on this day. She looked radiant!

Nadika & Darren | Married | Part 1

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

I’ve been very excited to blog about this wedding! Nadika and I have known each other for 25 years, ever since our mum’s took aerobics classes together at our local library. We schooled together from pre-school to matric and have been best friends since 1989. When she asked me to shoot her wedding… well, can you imagine? No pressure right? LOL. :)

Nadika and Darren tied the knot on a Tuesday afternoon. Probably one of the hottest days of 2011 in Durban. They had an intimate ceremony at a church. On Thursday of that same week Nadika had a mehndi evening followed by the Hurdee on Friday. On Saturday they both celebrated at a Reception with family and friends. So I have lots of pictures to share and will be posting Part 2 and Part 3 soon.

So here is their big day. Please comment. I would love to hear what you think as would Nadika and Darren I am sure. :)
