About Rika Singh:

Thank you for visiting and taking an interest in my photography. I live and work in Durban, South Africa as a web and graphics designer and have always wanted to take up photography. In 2009 I enrolled in courses and began putting my lecturers teachings into practise. It has been an amazing journey and one of great excitement for me. Like design, you never stop learning when you are behind that camera. I truly love what I do and I hope it reflects in the pictures you'll see on my website and blog. If you are looking for a specific category of my work, please use the menu button "Categories" above to navigate to categories such as Weddings, Children Photography, Pregnancy, etc. Please contact me via email at rika@rikasingh.co.za or call me on 083 792 8081 if you would like to book a shoot or just to discuss working with me. Jerusha | Mehndi & Hurdee | Rika Singh Photography | Durban

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

I had the pleasure of working with Jerusha and Preevan throughout their wedding prep. (Their wedding day post is coming soon.) Jerusha is so shy, she doesn’t like to dance. At her hurdee she watched where I was pointing my camera as her family cajoled her into dancing the night before she got married. Lol! Here’s a few pictures from her Mehndi and Hurdee nights.

Santhurie | Nelangu | Rika Singh Photographer | Durban

Friday, January 6th, 2012

Whew, its been a while since I’ve managed to post here. Where has the time gone? Happy New Year to you all. I hope 2012 is your best and most happy year yet! :)

Here is my first update for 2012. When I met Santhurie she mentioned that she laughs when she is nervous. I thought that was so cute as she didn’t look nervous at all and did laugh lots. She was tons of fun to be around. Best wishes Santhurie on your new journey as a married lady. :)

Shethal & Daren | Mehndi, Hurdee, Wedding Day | Rika Singh Photography

Monday, June 13th, 2011

I met stunning Shethal and her dashing Daren one evening for coffee and to chat about my packages. What an awesome couple! They were so easy-going and such fun to chat with. They are also big smilers. I love people who are so free with their smiles. It brightens my day to be around people like this. I have lots of pictures to share on this blog post because Shethal tells me everyone is anxious to see them. To bring you up to speed, I covered Shethal’s mehndi and hurdee and wedding morning and evening.  On ocassions like this, you really get to know everyone pretty well and I could see what a good home and family Shethal comes from. She was surrounded by love and her parents are wonderful people who have passed on their values to their lovely daughter.

Shethal literally lights up when she is around Daren as you will see in the pictures.

Shethal and Daren, I wish you both everything of the best in your new journey as a wedded couple. Hope you are happy with your pictures, guys! :)

Shethal & Daren’s Wedding Day:

As a photographer, you get to experience the day with everyone else but while they are busy you have the task of capturing moments so they may have something to look back on and reflect. Below to the right, is a picture of Shethal’s Dad, as he came into the room she was dressing in, and saw his only daughter dressed as a bride for the first time. Isn’t his expression priceless? Love my job!

Below, Shethal telling her husband how handsome he looked in his suit. :)

Daren win’s the hindu ritual, the ring game, that decides who shall wear the pants in the family. Shethal thought it was very funny too. ;)

And finally, the farewell:
